Yoshitomo Nara × Stella McCartney Kids: A new generation of activists
Uniquely blending conscious fashion and art, Yoshitomo Nara × Stella McCartney extends with a ‘mini me’ kids’ capsule – playfully bringing attention to meaningful issues through fashion and fun imagery, in a first-ever children’s clothing collaboration.
Yoshitomo Nara’s work celebrates introspection, imagination and individuality – rendered as cheeky prints and graphics for a new generation. Iconic illustrations of big-headed girls and animals, alongside bold slogans, are realised across an edit of collectible ready-to-wear pieces and vegan accessories.
Embroidery patches scattered on an organic cotton bomber jacket make a light-hearted statement, while printed sweatshirts, joggers and t-shirts in organic cotton are decorated with Nara’s signature illustrations.
The capsule is furthered with organic cotton denim jeans and shorts, a packable hooded jacket for everyday adventures, and a roomy backpack to safely stow their treasures. The collaboration expresses a free-spirited punk attitude, inspiring a new generation of Stella Kids to ‘CHANGE THE HISTORY’.
Known for the inimitable way that he bridges art, subculture and street culture, Yoshitomo Nara is inspired by his childhood growing up in rural Japan, his student years in 90s Germany and a synthesis of Japanese and Western culture, literature and music. His style is synonymous with youth in revolt – valorising non-conformity, free-thinking and individuality.
The Yoshitomo Nara × Stella McCartney collaboration continues with Summer 2023 ready-to-wear and vegan accessories.
