Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with 1 woman diagnosed every 10 minutes or around 55,000 women diagnosed annually.
Breast cancer incidences in younger women are still low – about 49 per 100,000. However, breast cancer diagnoses in women under 50 have been rising by more than 2% annually over the past five years, and women under 40 are nearly 40% more likely to die from their breast cancer than women over 40.
