Autumn 2022: Escape to nature with new animal prints
Bringing a touch of the untameable to our Autumn 2022 collection, animal prints have been a Stella signature for two decades. They first ran wild as ready-to-wear in Autumn 2002, woven into knitwear, and continued in subsequent collections – including Spring 2013, when leopard commanded attention on tailored suits and cocoon coats.
Animal prints embody Stella’s love of Mother Earth’s creatures, being a lifelong vegetarian and having never used leather, feathers, fur or skins since she founded the brand in 2001. Coming into the now, these punchy patterns playfully peek out on non-leather accessories, captivate attention on jumpsuits or serve as an elevated twist on everyday staples.
I was inspired by this notion of an ambitious Stella woman who wants to do better in every aspect of her busy life, but hasn't lost sight of her inner child. The result is an ageless collection that crosses generations, without limits or boundaries.
For Autumn 2022, animal prints take on a new direction – remaining infinitely wearable on foundational statement pieces yet taking on the shifting dynamics of the Stella woman and her ageless attitude towards her wardrobe.
We distort Stella’s signature animal prints, including a new twisted cheetah pattern that appears on long-sleeved silk dresses, halter all-in-ones and turtlenecks, styled under tailoring to retain a classic insouciance. Blanketing satin silhouettes in forest-friendly viscose offer softer shapes that simultaneously envelope the body and emphasise its sexiest curves.
The new warped cheetah pattern also appears on the Logo vegan tote bags, with silver studded logo details and made from smooth Alter Mat, a vegan alternative to leather.
