Stella McCartney x B&B Italia: The Camaleonda S-Wave launch
Introducing the second chapter of our partnership with B&B Italia; collaborating once again to design a limited-edition Camaleonda – the iconic sofa system by Mario Bellini – crafted from conscious materials and upholstered in our S-Wave monogram.
Unveiled at Art Basel Miami Beach on 6th December as part of an installation at B&B Italia Design Studio’s grand opening, this singular piece blurs the lines between sculpture and furniture. It is skilfully crafted from almost-entirely sustainable materials, materialising both of our brands’ nature-centred philosophies and eco-positive visions. Championing our shared values across both luxury and design, it is adorned in our S-Wave brand symbol.
The S-Wave is more than just a monogram: it honours golden ratios and the energies that connect us all, forming a connective visual thread that appears across all our ready-to-wear and accessories collections, as well as in certain collaborations. Inspired by DNA strings, soundwaves, sacred geometries and living in harmony with nature, it is a forever symbol embodying Stella McCartney’s ever-evolving commitments to circularity, material innovation and conscious leadership. Inspiring a new heritage, we believe it personifies our existing brand codes whilst simultaneously progressing towards the next chapter.
This is not the first time we have collaborated with B&B Italia. Stella has a personal passion for Mario Bellini’s works, with many of his pieces appearing in our boutiques globally. In 2022, we partnered with B&B Italia to reimagine of his iconic Le Bambole chair as part of a three-piece collection – with each piece responsibly constructed to uphold shared sustainability values and covered in a hand-drawn ‘Fungi Forest’ toile de Jouy upholstery, taken from our Summer 2022 runway collection.
Our relationship evolves with the introduction of this new Camaleonda. The sofa system was originally designed in 1970 and made its comeback 50 years later in 2020, speaking a contemporary language between structural, high-quality solutions and sustainable choices.
