Autumn 2024 Collection
The Autumn 2024 collection inspires new perspectives, as if from a bird’s eye view. Seeing through the eyes of another being is the first step in empathy – enabling us to treat them with more care and compassion. Stella has always taken a different perspective on fashion, best-known for having never used animal leathers and fur, and also feathers.
Seeing the world from avian perspectives and different vantage points, structural constructions and straight edges are contrasted with enshrouding, fluid forms – as if seeing cityscapes and landscapes from great heights. The Autumn 2024 collection was shot against pillows of Biopuff®, a regenerative alternative to feather down made from bulrushes grown in Cambridgeshire.
Every year, millions of birds are harmed or killed for fashion. Ostrich feathers are the most used of all wild bird plumes, with over one million killed annually for clothing and accessories. South Africa’s ostrich industry emits some 62,134 tonnes of carbon equivalent emissions each year, with both the production and processing of feathers being more climate-intensive than ostrich skin production.
This season, 93% of our luxury designer ready-to-wear is crafted from responsible materials including forest-friendly viscose; GOTS-certified organic cotton and silk; MAEKO® hemp, recycled nylon, polyester and cotton; GRS recycled cashmere; RAS alpaca; and RWS wool from traceable sources. Embroidery includes lead-free crystals.
