MIRACLE DRESS RE-EDITION: ICONICITY, INNOVATION, ILLUSION

Stella McCartney’s iconic Miracle Dress is modernised for a new generation, inspiring a limited-edition capsule collection weaving illusion with innovation. Nostalgia, brought into the now.

The Miracle Dress is immediately recognisable for its contouring panels, which simultaneously flatter and accentuate feminine silhouettes. It originally launched as part of the Winter 2011 collection and became an instant cult classic – seen on Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Liv Tyler, Penelope Cruz, Alicia Keys and more. The new iteration was recently featured in our Ryder bag campaign, seen on award-winning actor Sarah Snook.

“When I first launched my Miracle Dress in 2011, I had no idea the impact it would have. It went from the runway to the red carpet to real women globally. It was so flattering and fashion-forward, the media called it a ‘Miracle Dress’ and the name just stuck.” – Stella

Initially called the Octavia, the “Miracle Dress” title was bestowed by the media – a nod to the garment’s near-magical ability to make the figure appear both slimmer and curvier. Its innovative design achieves this through clever hourglass colour blocking, with barely visible sides forcing the eye to focus on contrasting front and back panels.

The Miracle Dress re-edition appears as part of the Spring 2025 collection, contemporised in a light forest-friendly viscose compact knit yarn – a traceable wood pulp-based fibre sourced from sustainably managed forests, showcasing Stella McCartney’s commitment to zero-deforestation. An archival icon, leading the future of fashion.
